C-B-D: Multiple Choice(s) for Dining

First, there was La Loggia – but if the scene there, on a given night, wasn’t what you were looking for, then it was get in the car and go somewhere else – or just home.
No more. Recently, new evening dining options have opened in DWNTWN’s Central Business District. Now if you want to move on after that first drink, you can check out what’s up at Tre, Mia, Cvi.Che 105, Soya y Pomodoro, Giovanna Caffe, ECCO, Miami Chophouse, SolyMar, Il Gabbiano, or Area 31 – all on foot - and there are more to come in 2010.
•On Flagler Street, Tre (270 E Flagler St) offers sidewalk and inside dining. With a great menu of light fare and specialty drinks, Tre is the new place to see and be seen.
•Also on Flagler, Mia (20 Biscayne Blvd) is a visual playground with high tech video screens, interactive bar tops and an over-the-top décor. Don’t be fooled by all the club fittings – Mia has a serious menu featuring sushi, Mediterranean, and specialty appetizers that mix well with cocktails as well as live performances and club nights.
•Just to the north is Cve.Che 105 (105 NE 3 Ave) a Peruvian wonder of tastes and smells. This unexpected elegant dining spot, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offers a twist on classic Peruvian dishes. The restaurant is undergoing and expansion to handle all their hungry patrons.
•Down the street, Soya y Pomodoro (120 NE 1 St) offers a fresh Italian menu with a bohemian vibe, found art, and eclectic furniture - the space in a historic building feels totally underground and edgy and live entertainment on Thursdays and Fridays.
•To the south Giovanna Caffe (154 SE 1 Ave) a Downtown Miami tradition – operating since 1996 – is now in new digs and open late. The pear and gorgonzola ravioli is to die for.
•A block away, ECCO PizzaTecca & Lounge (168 SE 1 St) offers great pizza, full menu and cocktails in a sleek and groovy environment late into Thursday and Friday nights.
•Formerly Manny’s Steakhouse, Miami Chophouse (300 S Biscayne Blvd) continues with over sized everything and the best steaks in Miami.
•Across the street, is SolyMar (315 S Biscayne Blvd) offering a varied menu of fish and meats with a Caribbean flavor prepared in an open kitchen over a hickory-burning grill.
•Walk along the Miami River to Biscayne Bay and you’ll find Il Gabbiano (335 S Biscayne Blvd) with its amazing waterfront views and fine Italian cuisine.
•To end the night, take the elevator up to Area 31 (270 Biscayne Blvd Way) offering award-winning seafood from an isolated area of the Atlantic Ocean: Area 31, with a breathtaking view – across the Miami River to Brickell – that Henry Flagler and Julia Tuttle would have found . . . unbelievable.
But then of course there’s still La Loggia (68 W Flagler) where it all began – with its sensational Italian fare and legendary long bar, the scene there is always the right answer.
